BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – August 6, 2008 – Alabama Governor Bob Riley chose Brookwood Pharmaceuticals as his Birmingham stop to mark Alabama’s being named the 2007 “State of the Year” in economic development by magazine Southern Business and Development. Riley chose Brookwood because of its biotech connection. Art Tipton, president of Brookwood Pharmaceuticals said the company plans to employ 300 employees within the next five years, up from around 80 today.
